Nitrex Metal INS neutralizers are designed to eliminate residual ammonia and other pollutant gases from the process effluent gas, through combustion, without generating excessive amounts of NOx. Depending on the composition of the effluent gas, fuel gas is used to maintain adequate reaction temperature, typically in the 900°C-1100°C (1652°F-2012°F) range.

If the neutralizer temperature is too low, ammonia in the effluent gas will not combust, resulting in it being dumped to the atmosphere. If the neutralizer temperature is too high, the amount of NOx created during combustion will increase. The air and fuel supplies to the neutralizer can be adjusted to find an optimal temperature for high ammonia combustion and low NOx creation.

Combustion Chamber

The combustion chamber assembly consists of 2 integrated chambers, namely:
• Combustion chamber
• Cool-down chamber

The combustion chamber is the lower section of the neutralizer, it contains a central burner, a flame detector and the effluent gas inlet.

The cool-down chamber is the top section of the neutralizer. It consists of thermal insulation and bricks which slow the flow of gas through the neutralizer. This increases combustion and cools the neutralizers exhaust.
